PHILOSOPHER is the flagship XAUUSD Expert Advisor in my Roman EA Series, developed for MetaTrader 5.

Gold can trend, consolidate, break out and reverse within the same trading session. PHILOSOPHER brings together 22 specialized strategy models to evaluate different types of opportunity, with shared rules for execution, position sizing and basket management.

Choose a broker preset, select your sizing profile and follow the system’s activity through The Agora dashboard. Entry selection, recovery and exits operate within one integrated Expert Advisor.

PHILOSOPHER uses basket-based grid recovery with progressive position sizing. Understanding that approach is an essential part of choosing the system.

Different perspectives on the gold market

Each philosopher represents a strategy within the system. Together, the available models cover:

• Trend continuation and momentum
• Pullbacks and continuation after a retracement
• Breakouts and volatility expansion
• Session ranges, price sweeps and reclaim patterns
• Relationships between price and tick-weighted VWAP references
• Relative tick-volume activity

Each strategy evaluates its own entry conditions and applicable filters. Selected models also refine an eligible signal by waiting for a pullback and reclaim, or a continuation confirmation, before execution.

The current edition offers 22 available strategies. The active selection depends on the broker preset and settings: the RoboForex preset enables 19, while Custom mode allows individual strategy selection.

Entry selection and basket management, working together

Once a strategy opens a position, the basket engine manages subsequent exposure and exits according to its rules.

Recovery spacing takes volatility into account through Average True Range (ATR). Recovery sizing follows a 1.5-times progression, subject to sizing caps and the broker’s lot increments. Basket exits consider the combined position rather than requiring every individual order to close in profit.

The current main-basket limit is five positions, including the initial entry. This is a limit per directional strategy basket, not a five-position cap across the account. Conditional recovery hedges can add separate exposure.

On a hedging account, the optional multiple-strategies mode allows different strategies to maintain separate baskets in the same direction. This gives you more control over strategy participation, while also allowing higher total exposure.

Configure how the system trades

• Five sizing profiles: Very Low, Low, Balanced, Medium and High, with fixed-lot and custom balance-scaling alternatives.
• Broker presets: TMGM, ICM, Vantage / VT / Ultima, RoboForex, Other and Custom.
• Drawdown controls: Configurable overall protection and optional daily protection, with close-and-continue or close-and-stop actions.
• Execution checks: Entry-spread limits, margin checks, session restrictions and strategy-specific conditions.
• USD news filtering: Selectable event coverage and adjustable pause windows before and after news.

The sizing-profile names describe relative exposure settings. They do not specify a guaranteed maximum loss.

See what your EA is doing

The Agora dashboard brings strategy activity and account information into one view. Monitor enabled strategies, open positions, lot exposure, floating profit or loss, equity, margin and drawdown. The news view explains current entry pauses and the status of grid additions and new hedges.

This visibility helps you follow the system from the first entry through basket management and exit.

A clear definition of volume analysis

PHILOSOPHER uses broker tick-volume activity in relevant calculations. This measures activity in the broker’s feed and is also used to weight certain price references. It does not measure market-wide traded gold volume or directly establish institutional buying, selling or absorption. Feed differences can affect these readings and the resulting signals.

Gold trading involves substantial risk. Grid recovery can increase exposure as price moves against a basket, leading to significant drawdown, margin pressure and potentially the loss of your trading capital. Multiple strategies remain exposed to the same gold market.
